4th with the Breiners

We happily celebrated (read: vacationed!) a long 4th of July weekend with our dear friends the Breiner family.  All the kids and parents from both families were able to be there, which hasn't happened in a few years, so it was super fun all around.

Our time was filled with: skiing, swimming, SINGING, playing guitar, sleeping (in hammocks), kayaking, dancing, playing "corn hole," riding in the boat, jumping out of the boat to swim, TALKING, EATING, GWENing, flying kites, flying kites from kayaks, sharing "highlight of the day," writing down funny quotes, seining for minnows, clearing out clam shells (thank you Bert), playing with kids, watching fireworks, gathering  on the dock, debating music and movies, playing chat pack, playing trivial pursuit baby boomers, falling asleep to The Mighty Ducks, eating ice cream at Granny's Pantry, KP teams (Go Green Team!), being jealous of the grown-ups' coffee cruise, waving to boats decked out with flags (where was the tuba player this year?!), wake-boarding, being sore, LAUGHING really, really hard.  Best trip ever.

Since choosing just a few pictures is too difficult for me, I've created themed montages to remember our time together...

1. Breiners (My mom and Sue are best friends and ex-roommates, which is how all this started.)

2. Playing in Lake and Yard

3. Cherishing Gwen

4. Panoramics (we love our new camera!)

Most photo credit goes to Bert.  What a sweet time we had, and surely it will be long remembered.

Flowers

I am dabbling in the world of flowers this summer...

We inherited some daisies from my in-law's backyard.  They are so cheerful.

Our rose bush out front is thriving.  I love how many blooms it is sporting this summer.

My hydrangea plant took two years, but it is finally looking alive. Hooray!

My new favorite dining room centerpiece is baby's breath.  It never wilts or needs watering.  This stuff is from a baby shower I had a month ago.  I like how it looks on its own, bunched over a table cloth.
